Landbot is a visual, no-code chatbot builder from Barcelona for websites, WhatsApp and Messenger. It is built mainly for marketing teams that want to capture and qualify leads with button-driven flows, with an optional AI Agent block inside the flow. It charges a flat monthly plan that includes a pool of chats and a smaller, separate pool of AI chats, and it bills a published price for each chat beyond the pool.

Bottom line

  • Best for: Marketing teams in Europe that want lead-capture flows on a website, with prices in euros and data hosted in the EU
  • Not for: Teams that need Instagram, voice or SMS, or developers who want versioning and a bot they can export
  • Paid plans from: €40 per month
  • The catch: Branding removal, webhooks, CRM integrations and WhatsApp on your own number all start at Professional, so the €40 Starter plan is narrower than its price suggests.

Landbot scores 7.5 out of 10 on rubric v1.0. The rubric rates what can be verified from public documentation, not how well a bot built on it performs.

Pricing clarityWeight 25% · Level 4/5

Plan prices and allowances are public and the metered unit is defined in writing, but one material part of the bill (AI usage, overage or a required add-on) is priced only on request or passed through at a variable cost.

What the documentation supports

  • The pricing page publishes the price beyond the allowance: €0.05 per extra chat and €0.10 per extra AI chat, with alerts at 80% and 90% of the pool.
  • The Free plan never expires, needs no card and includes 100 chats a month on the web channel.
  • A shared inbox for human takeover is part of the product, so handing a chat to a person does not need a second tool.
  • The help centre says all instances run on Google Cloud servers in Belgium, and Landbot is governed by Spanish law.
  • Landbot commits in its payment FAQ to at least 2 months' notice before it changes prices for existing customers.

What to watch

  • The Free plan stops at 100 chats and the fair-use policy says no warning is sent before that, so a free bot can go quiet mid-month without notice.
  • Landbot describes its WhatsApp markup two different ways: a pricing-page tooltip says a flat 20% on top of Meta's fee, while the help centre says a fixed €0.05 per template message.
  • Fair-use ceilings cap Starter at 5,000 chats a month and Professional at 10,000, even though extra chats are sold per chat.
  • AI chats are a second meter with a smaller pool: 100 on Starter and 300 on Professional.
  • The USD price list is higher than the EUR list in nominal terms: Professional is US$110 a month against €100.

What you can build

Landbot is a drag-and-drop flow builder with templates: you connect blocks for messages, buttons, questions and conditions, with no code required. AI is a block inside the flow rather than a separate product. According to the AI Agent guide, the AI Agent block is available on all paid plans, works on web, WhatsApp and Messenger, and answers from a knowledge base of pasted text, uploaded files (PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, RTF) and scraped URLs with scheduled refresh, up to 200,000 characters per source type. The knowledge base is text-only. The agent collects data into fields and exits back into the rule-based flow, where webhook and integration blocks run; the guide does not describe native tool-calling. The guide says you select the AI model per agent, but the pages we read do not name the models. The help centre has separate guides for calling OpenAI, Google Gemini and DeepSeek with your own key through the Webhook block. For code, the documentation lists a JavaScript Code block, a Webhook block, formulas and an API and SDK; webhooks, the API and the CRM integrations start at Professional. No versioning or staging environments were found in the documentation. The help centre documents exporting a flow as a PNG image and sharing it as a template link, but no file export of a bot was found. Human takeover goes into Landbot's shared inbox, and each person answering uses a seat. The pricing FAQ says handoff is included from Starter, while the comparison table also ticks it for Free, so treat handoff on Free as unconfirmed.

Pricing

Landbot's pricing page lists five plans in euros. Free costs €0 and includes 100 chats a month, no AI chats and 1 seat. Starter is €40 a month, or €32 a month billed annually, with 500 chats, 100 AI chats and 2 seats. Professional is €100 a month, or €80 billed annually, with 2,500 chats, 300 AI chats and 3 seats. Professional WA is Professional plus the WhatsApp add-on at €100 a month: the comparison table shows €160 a month on annual billing, which works out to €200 on monthly billing, with 500 AI chats, 1 WhatsApp number and 10,000 WhatsApp service messages a month. Business is a custom contract that the table heads "from €400" a month, with seats starting at 5. Annual billing is a twelve-month commitment that carries a 20% discount. Extra seats cost €25 each a month. Prices are before tax. Landbot also publishes a separate USD list for accounts in the United States and Latin America: Starter at US$45 a month (US$36 billed annually) and Professional at US$110 (US$88 billed annually). The USD list is not a conversion of the EUR list. It is a second, higher set of numbers, and the payment FAQ says the billing country decides which one you get.

Landbot pricing explained · What counts as a conversation in chatbot pricing?

What the free plan really allows

The Free plan, still called Sandbox in the help centre, never expires and needs no card. It includes 100 chats a month, 1 seat and the web channel only. WhatsApp works only through Landbot's shared test number. It excludes the AI Agent block, A/B testing, Messenger, the API channel and branding removal, so a free bot is rule-based and carries Landbot branding. There is no overage on Free. The fair-use policy says the account supports 100 chats a month, that no notification is sent at 80% of the limit, and that you are then invited to upgrade. The same article lists 30 chats for Sandbox in another line, which contradicts both its own footnote and the pricing page. Free accounts that never had a paid subscription are deactivated after 30 calendar days of inactivity. New sign-ups start with a 14-day trial of all features and then drop to Free. Claims and who backs them

Landbot's headline claims are counts, not performance figures: more than 12,000 teams in over 190 countries, all stated on its own pricing page. The customer figures are testimonial tiles on that same page. CASFID's CTO says the company estimates it cut manually handled messages by 70%. Lead Laundry reports a 35% increase in conversion, and Emma reports a 30% lower cost per lead. None of these comes with a method, a baseline or a time period, and the CASFID figure is described as an estimate. We found no independent measurement of how Landbot bots perform. The one independent source in this review is an EU-Startups report of a €6,500,000 Series A round in January 2021, which says the company was founded in 2017. On security, the pricing page states SOC 2 and GDPR compliance and a data processing agreement on request, but it does not say which type of SOC 2 report. The trust centre that should hold the sub-processor list could not be read.

For buyers in the United Kingdom Three rules matter most when a chatbot talks to UK customers. The CMA holds you responsible for what the bot says, exactly as it would for an employee. Under PECR, a chat widget should not set cookies before the visitor opens it unless they have consented, and marketing on WhatsApp, SMS or Instagram DMs needs consent or the soft opt-in. Chat transcripts are personal data under the UK GDPR, so set a retention period and sign a data processing agreement with the vendor. Chatbots and the law in the United Kingdom

Verdict

Pick Landbot if you want button-driven lead-capture or qualification flows on a website, you are happy to build them yourself without code, and you value euro pricing, EU hosting and a published price for every extra chat. The overage prices, alerts and fair-use ceilings are all in writing, which makes next month's bill easier to predict than on a quote-only tool; see how it compares on our list for lead generation. Skip it if WhatsApp is your main channel and you need a firm cost per message, because Landbot's own pages disagree on its markup, or if you need Instagram, voice or SMS. Developers who want versioning, model control and an exportable bot should look at a developer-oriented platform instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is Landbot free?

Yes. Landbot has a Free plan that never expires and needs no card, with 100 chats a month, 1 seat and the web channel only. It does not include the AI Agent block, and Landbot's fair-use policy says the bot stops at the limit without a warning email. New accounts also get a 14-day trial of all features first.

How much does Landbot cost?

Landbot's Starter plan costs €40 a month, or €32 a month billed annually, and includes 500 chats. Professional costs €100 a month, or €80 billed annually, with 2,500 chats. Beyond the allowance Landbot charges €0.05 per extra chat and €0.10 per extra AI chat. Accounts in the United States and Latin America are billed from a separate, higher USD list, where Starter is US$45 and Professional is US$110 a month.

Does Landbot work with WhatsApp?

Yes, but only on higher plans. Landbot's pricing page sells WhatsApp on your own number as an add-on to Professional for €100 a month, with 10,000 service messages a month included; the Free plan only offers a shared test number. Meta's per-message fees come on top, and Landbot's own pages describe its markup two different ways, so confirm it with Landbot before launch. Our guide to WhatsApp chatbot rules explains Meta's message categories.

Does Landbot host data in the EU?

Yes, according to its help centre. Landbot's privacy and security article says all instances run on Google Cloud servers in Belgium and that the company is governed by the laws of Spain. That article is marked as no longer maintained and points to Landbot's trust centre, which we could not read, so the sub-processors behind the AI features are not verified.

What happens when I run out of chats on Landbot?

On Landbot's paid plans the bot keeps running and each extra chat costs €0.05, billed in packs of 500 chats, with alerts at 80% and 90% of your pool. On the Free plan the bot stops at 100 chats with no warning email. Fair-use ceilings still apply on paid plans: 5,000 chats a month on Starter and 10,000 on Professional.
